Parents, I know you don’t understand why your teenager occasionally behaves impulsively, irrationally, or recklessly. At times, it seems like they don’t think things through or fully consider the consequences of their actions.🚫
𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭! Studies have shown that the brain continues to mature and develop throughout childhood, adolescence, and well into early adulthood.
The frontal cortex, the area of the brain that controls reasoning and helps us think before we act, doesn’t fully develop until early adulthood.
So while you are trying to figure out why they are doing what they are doing, and how they make some of their decisions, just understand they differ from adults. In the way they behave, solve problems, and make decisions – 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘴 𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘯’𝘵 𝘧𝘶𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘥𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘥 𝘺𝘦𝘵.
