Frequently Asked Questions

WHY IS OUR NAME SPELLED YUNION AND NOT UNION?

In the city of Detroit, the auto and manufacturing unions have a profound presence and our founder did not want the local community to confuse our organization with them. So we inserted the letter “Y” before the word “union” to represent our focus “youth.” Although the letter “Y” is silent in the pronunciation of our name, our passion for loving and serving youth is loud and clear.

IS THE YUNION A DETROIT PUBLIC SCHOOLS (DPS) VENDOR?

Yes. We obtained our DPS vendors license in 2010.

HOW CAN SOMEONE BECOME A YUNION VOLUNTEER?

We are always excited when someone is prompted to help us, help youth and young adults! If you are interested in having your name added to our list for possible future efforts, please contact us.
