5 Symptoms of Depression in Teens
In case you didn’t know, 𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡! And we want our Yunion parents to be well educated on mental health especially when it comes to their kids as well as for themselves. So let’s keep the conversation going!
Teen depression is not uncommon unfortunately. The CDC states that approximately 1.9 million children between the ages of 3 and 17 are diagnosed with depression in a given year.
Depression in teens deeply affects those who experience it, but the symptoms are often different than those seen in depressed adults. In order to get help, it is important to first recognize the signs! ⬇️
🔹𝘈𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺
🔹𝘋𝘦𝘤𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘴
🔹𝘋𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘺 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨
🔹𝘍𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘨𝘶𝘦
🔹𝘚𝘭𝘦𝘦𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰𝘰 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘰𝘳 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩
The problem is that teen depression often disguises itself as normal “mood swings” due to puberty or teen angst. This means that it is often ignored until something more serious happens.
Be engaged in your teen’s life, and keep an eye out for any unusual behaviors! If you’re looking for more advice or guidance, leave a comment below, or send us a message! 💙
