Ways To Build Your Self-Esteem

Parents:

Self-Esteem or self-worth is more than how you feel about yourself. It’s also about how capable you are to meet life’s challenges and feel worthy of happiness.
You can build self-esteem in your child/teen by developing three “A’s”. Affirmation, Achievement, and Affirmation.

Affirmation: Being Affirmed means to be valued for who you are (not what you do) by a significant person in your life. Children/Teens with high self-esteem feel affirmed by their parents.

Affection: Children/Teens with high self-esteem report that their parents frequently show affection to them.

Achievement: Children/Teens with high self-esteem can identify specific accomplishments they have achieved. These teens also feel parental recognition for these achievements.
