Boys don’t need to be “scared straight”, they need to be healed
I tell you the truth, when I compassionately tell them the real reason they’re wearing their hoodies inside is because of their emotional pain inside—they gradually sit up and cautiously remove their hoods.
So the next time you see a boy with a hood on inside, don’t berate him—engage him. Our boys don’t need to be “scared straight”, they need to be healed.
Every time I’m invited to speak at youth events, there will always be a few boys in attendance who slouch in their chairs with their hoods pulled over their faces. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀I tell you the truth, when I compassionately tell them the real reason they’re wearing their hoodies inside is because of their emotional pain inside—they gradually sit up and cautiously remove their hoods. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀So the next time you see a boy with a hood on inside, don’t berate him—engage him.
