Do Not Overlook The Daily Trauma
I completely understand the sense of urgency as it relates to getting our children back in school. However, I pray in the rush to do so, we do not overlook the daily trauma their minds will endure due to wearing masks for 6 hours, social distancing from friends, no gym, eating lunch alone, daily temperature checks, etc.
Regardless if you do not believe the CDC’s guidelines should be adhered to, this is what schools will have to implement if they want to open. As a result, attending school during these unprecedented times will be an adverse childhood experience for students. Especially the ones who have lost friends, family and loved ones to COVID.
