Detroit Public Schools Community District is offering a few Free, Fun, and Engaging events to help enrich students in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. Take a look at this week’s free events!

The DPL presents the 73rd Annual E. Azalia Hackley Collection Concert, “An Evening with Daniel Washington.” Dr. Daniel Washington, Professor of Voice at the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre, & Dance, has performed at the world’s major opera houses and concert stages.

The Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit invites DPSCD students and their families to view The Architectural Imagination, an exhibition featuring drawings and models of imaginary buildings designed for real locations in Detroit (a lot in Mexicantown, a riverfront post office, parcels along the Dequindre Cut, and the Packard Plant) and to design their own dream buildings using their imaginations and the inspirational materials provided.

Struggles To Success

Today my family planned to start our staycation and tonight is our nonprofit The Yunion’s annual Staff & Volunteer Appreciation Day and we were all meeting up for dinner. Unfortunately the alarm system on our newly acquired building was not functioning properly, so I had to stay here until “help” arrived.

Brother Devon, I too allowed misconstrued masculinity hinder my expression of love for my daughter. I will never forget when she slammed her finger in my car door at 8 years old. She showed no emotion to the pain because at that time in my life, I didn’t know how to #CryLikeAMan—I just a male defined only by masculine attributes.
