Hey parents! Fall is here and it’s one of our favorite times of year, because we start implementing our SWAG program for the school year! 🙌

SWAG’s aim is to equip and empower local students to make healthy life choices that will enable them to confidently navigate through obstacles and challenges. Encompassing abstinence from sex, violence, alcohol, and drugs. ⁣
⁣
The program touches on topics such as self-esteem, communication skills, decision-making, goal setting, conflict resolution, relationships, and adolescent development among others. 💙⁣

RECEIVING AFFIRMATION

My brothers: When we cannot receive love and affirmation from each other—we will never be able to attain the healing we so desperately desire. Living in a state of heartache, wearies the soul and takes the life out of living. I know this pain so well, which is why I #CryLikeAMan daily until we can collectively heal and be whole.

Brother Devon, I too allowed misconstrued masculinity hinder my expression of love for my daughter. I will never forget when she slammed her finger in my car door at 8 years old. She showed no emotion to the pain because at that time in my life, I didn’t know how to #CryLikeAMan—I just a male defined only by masculine attributes.
