𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐟-𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐧𝐞’𝐬 𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬, 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬.
This includes managing stress, delaying gratification, motivating yourself, and setting and working toward personal and academic goals.
By continuing to support your teen’s self-management growth, you can guide them into becoming a responsible young adult.
General strategies for helping youth learn to manage their emotions include:
