Release The Trauma So That We Can Live Again
I cried watching this clip because for decades, I suppressed my emotions—trying to be a “man” instead of a huMAN. In my book #CryLikeAMan, I share how my era taught men that crying was a sign of weakness. I didn’t even cry when my friend was shot and killed in the 8th grade nor when my brother was murdered. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Mike Tyson I’ve never met you, but know you have a brother here that will catch every tear until you’re healed.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Men: Suppression leads to depression. We deserve to cry—releasing the trauma so that we can live again—loving ourselves and others.
