THE POWER OF A FATHER’S PRESENCE
In Chapter 5 of #CryLikeAMan “The Absence of Affirmation, I share how my father rarely attended my football games—and of all the games for him to attend, it had to be the one when I dropped the game winning touchdown.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“I heard you dropped a touchdown pass” was the first thing out of his mouth. Not “Great catch in the first quarter” or “That block on fifty-seven was legit!” Just the same predictable negativity that refused to see the good in me. Would you believe it took nearly three decades for the Most High to expose what my dad really said?

“I HEARD …”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
He didn’t even see the play because he wasn’t there. He showed up at the end of the game. He didn’t witness anything I did—good or bad. The speed I used to outpace the DB. Nothing. Just a handful of corrosive words hitting me like acid. Sitting here in my office so many years later, I finally realized what he actually meant. And when I did, all I could do was put my head on my desk and cry. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Father’s—just because you’re not in your son’s home, doesn’t mean you can’t be in his life! Please learn how to #CryLikeAMan so that you can release the toxic emotions and trauma preventing you from being the father he needs.
We are almost there!

Lifting
Instead of just telling our children what to do, let’s make time to show them how it’s done.
Allen Iverson and Dwayne Wade showed others that it’s okay to cry like a man.
It really blessed me to see two men openly grieving the loss of their beloved friend.
Experience is the best teacher
It’s a good thing to have a desire to motivate men, but it’s hypocritical when we do not pursue what we advise them to do.
What Is A Girlfriend?
Jason Wilson shows us why it’s imperative that we teach our boys how to rule their emotions, so that they can critically think

Yes the path to success will take us through many physical challenges, but trust me, we do not have to live with the pain to make gains!
Upbringing
Sometimes listening is the best way to answer.
Peace Of Mind
“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You.” — Isaiah 26:3
Boys don’t need to be “scared straight”, they need to be healed
So the next time you see a boy with a hood on inside, don’t berate him—engage him. Our boys don’t need to be “scared straight”, they need to be healed.
Staff Break Room
Our staff break room is almost finished—God is so good!
He Knows And Understand
Trust me—He knows and understands, so don’t fret.
Never Be Discouraged
“I know all the things you do, and I have opened a door for you that no one can close. You have little strength, yet you obeyed my word and did not deny me.” – Rev 3:8
Peace Be Still
“My tears have been my food day and night, while people say to me all day long, “Where is your God?”
Safe Space
This is where the battle begins and is won, for it’s written, “But there is another power within me that is at war with my mind. This power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me.”- Romans 7:23
One day all men will break free from emotional incarceration
“Sometimes instead of holding back certain things, we should just do. We take stuff for granted… like I don’t talk to you guys as much as I need to.”
Kobe’s Legacy: Fatherhood
For it is written, “Behold, children are a gift of the LORD… Like arrows in the hands of a warrior… how joyful is the man whose quiver is full of them!”
