This Week In S.W.A.G.- Welcome
Welcome To Our Parent Community
What is S.W.A.G.?
S.W.A.G. is a life skills and prevention program aimed at helping young people make positive life choices. S.W.A.G. stands for Students With Awareness and Goals. In S.W.A.G. students are equipped for success in a variety of areas including:
- Self Esteem
- Communication
- Decision Making
- Goal Setting
- Conflict Resolution
- Relationships
- Risk Avoidance and More…
S.W.A.G. emphasizes three key principals:
- Knowing One’s Self
- Relating to Others
- Planning One’s Future
We encourage Parents and caregivers to actively participate in helping us support youth who choose to make positive life choices. We provide updates and training for Parents to ensure that you are equipped to work with the Yunion in Loving Youth and Uniting Families. Our Parental Advisory Training is a great place to learn about the latest trends and happenings in popular culture that affect our youth. We strongly encourage you to attend.
Incentives and participant-led special events such as prom campaigns and PSAs augment intensive programming as a way to ensure youth ownership and cultural relevance. Programs like S.W.A.G. are vital to our youth fulfilling their potential. With it, we can help change attitudes and values that ultimately lead to thriving communities where making the right decision is embraced.
S.W.A.G Person of the Week
Every week in S.W.A.G. we shout out students and Life Guides that make S.W.A.G. a memorable experience. This week, we’d like to shout out Mrs. Lydia! Lydia has served as a Life Guide, Camp Director and now serves as our Program Coordinator. Lydia has been with the Yunion for over 7 years and possesses a great ability to connect with young people. Mrs. Lydia is tasked with making things happen behind the scenes, ensuring that S.W.A.G. runs smoothly. Thank you, Mrs. Lydia, your service is greatly appreciated!
