Today’s Tip

Parents, if we are being honest with ourselves, we can’t control our children. 𝘖𝘶𝘳 𝘨𝘰𝘢𝘭 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥𝘯’𝘵 𝘣𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘢 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘪𝘯𝘧𝘭𝘶𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮.⁣

When we try to control our kids, we take away their autonomy. When they are away from us, it’s rare that they actually do what we want them to do. They do what they want to do regardless, if it’s good for them or not. They just want the freedom to make their own choices for once. ⁣

But when we influence them by teaching, training, and being good role models, they internalize and maintain their autonomy and do what they feel is right. And it’s based on what we’ve taught them – 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘸𝘦’𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘳 𝘯𝘰𝘵.⁣

It might be hard sometimes, especially as our children grow older, but we need to trust that we have taught them well. Save this post for later when you need the reminder that you’re doing a good job. 💙
