4 Tips That Will Support Both Student and Parents

Parents! Can you believe it’s almost (for some of you it’s already) back to school time?! ✏️ ⁣

Prepping for school usually includes shopping for supplies, a new backpack, and maybe something special to wear on that first day of school. 𝘉𝘜𝘛, it should also include tools for navigating the stress, anxiety, and nerves that come with the transition into the school year.⁣

𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝟒 𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐡 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐬 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧 𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥!👇 ⁣

1️⃣. 𝘊𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘢 𝘙𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘦 – Establishing structure and routine is an essential part of back-to-school preparation. Talk about a morning routine, after school routine, etc. ⁣

2️⃣. 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘞𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘊𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥 𝘜𝘱 𝘌𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘳 – A week before school starts, have all of your kids use their alarms and begin to wake up when they’ll be getting up during the school year. ⁣

3️⃣. 𝘐𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘢𝘯 𝘏𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘘𝘶𝘪𝘦𝘵 𝘛𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘢𝘵 𝘕𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 – During preparation for the school year, preferably an hour before bed, let them read a book, comic, or magazine. What they do in quiet time is not important, as long as no electronics are present! ⁣

4️⃣. 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘞𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘊𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥 – One of the most important back to school tips for parents: Talk to your kids! An ongoing, meaningful connection between kids and parents is one of the most powerful factors in supporting mental and physical health. Let your kids open up about what they’re thinking and feeling.⁣
